1.30pm Parallel wellbeing sessions

Everyone is invited to choose between attending a wellbeing session for people with lymphoma or a wellbeing session for family, friends and carers:

Wellbeing (for people with lymphoma)
Living with lymphoma can bring a range of physical and emotional challenges, due to symptoms and side effects from treatment. This session focuses on physical and emotional wellbeing for people with lymphoma, including self-management and lifestyle guidance for managing symptoms, side effects and psychological wellbeing to help you feel more in control and improve your quality of life alongside lymphoma.

Looking after your wellbeing (for family, friends and carers)
Supporting someone with lymphoma can be rewarding, but it can also bring practical and emotional challenges. This dedicated session provides a space for family members, friends and carers to focus on their own wellbeing. Designed to be interactive, we’ll invite you to share your experiences with others, including any sources of information and support, and suggestions for ways to focus on your wellbeing alongside caring for your person with lymphoma.

2.15pm Afternoon refreshments

An opportunity to meet, share and connect with others. Tea, coffee and chefs choice of treats will be available in the Oak Room.

2.30pm Keeping safe on holiday

Many people with lymphoma have questions about travelling safely – whether planning a break  before treatment, returning to holidays after treatment, or navigating issues like infection risk, GHICs and declaring lymphoma for travel insurance. This session covers how to plan for safe holidays: what to look out for when booking a trip and deciding where to go, managing medication and carrying details of your condition, sun safety, arranging insurance and reducing the risk of infection (such as food and drink hygiene, protection from insects, vaccinations). Speaker to be confirmed.

2.55pm Money, work and benefits after a lymphoma diagnosis

Money and financial issues is such an important topic for many people with lymphoma. Whether it is about benefits and entitlements, the implication of having to take time off from working for treatment, or longer-term impact on personal finances, it is a topic that can be difficult to navigate. This session from Fiona McCulloch Chief Officer, Citizens Advice York provides an overview of the common challenges a lymphoma diagnosis can have on finances, work and benefits, and signposts people to trusted organisations for further information, guidance and support.

3.20pm Lymphoma Action 40th anniversary and organisational update

A brief celebration of our 40th anniversary, and an update on our charitable activities.
