Saturday 17th May 2014 from 10am-5pm
Sunday 18th May from 10am-4pm
Llwyn Isaf green (in front of Wrexham Library)

The Wrexham Food and Drink Festival, managed by Nightingale House Hospice, in on at Llywn Isaf green this weekend and aims to be bigger and better than ever!

Now in its third year, the festival attracts 3000+ local people to Wrexham to peruse, taste and buy locally produced food and drink.

This year the festival boasts a new, live interactive cookery area where well-known daytime tv chef, Lesley Waters, will be presenting (Sunday at 1.30pm). Lesley is well known for her regular television appearances on Ready Steady Cook, Great Food Live and This Morning.

Other chefs and food experts in the area will also be cooking in the interactive area and sharing their knowledge and tasty treats, with Caroline Preece, Catering & Hospitality Manager at Coleg Cambria hosting.

On Sunday there will be a Sausage Competition which is open to butchers in the counties of Wrexham, Flintshire & Denbighshire. With classes for traditional pork & speciality sausages, this sounds like a very tasty event!

At The Best of Wrexham we are huge supporters of ‘Buy Local’, particularly buying local food. The Wrexham Food and Drink Festival encourages people to try foods they may not usually have tried and allows them to meet local suppliers. Buying food locally helps farmers, reduces costs and pollution associated with transportation, builds community and usually is more nutritious and tastier as it’s fresher than food that has travelled further.

Entry to the festival is £5 each with under 14s free of charge. Money raised is donated to Nightingale House Hospice.
