The Abbeyfield Day Nursery in Wrexham was established in July 1995 by Joanne Evans NNEB and Doris Shaw SRN, and is located on the outskirts of Wrexham, not far from the town centre and close to all by-pass links. The converted farmhouse and cottage provide an excellent site for the care of young children.
Dot and Jo lead a team of experience childcare staff with a hands-on approach. All staff have a recognised formal child-care qualification and all hold First Aid certificates. At any one time there may be two employees working towards a Level III NVQ qualification.
Aims and Objectives
It is important to remember that all children are individuals and need to be treated accordingly.
At Abbeyfields Day Nursery we aim to provide your child with the highest standards in all aspects of childcare by creating a happy, safe, well-structured, stimulating and non-discriminatory environment.
BABIES - We cater for babies from 8 weeks of age. Your child will be cared for by experienced, qualified staff in a well-equipped unit. The nappy changing area is located just off the main play area, with a separate sleep area.
Your baby's day is monitored and recorded then discussed with you at the end of each session.
TODDLERS - In the toddler areas we encourage the first stepping stones to learning, through a variety of activities including: sand; water; painting; role-play; music; and story-telling. Free play is encouraged as it enhances social skills and interaction.
This unit provides an early introduction to the skills necessary for school life. Through play, the children are introduced to the main aspects from the desirable outcome policy. We aim to encourage self-confidence and independence.
Our pre-school unit is run by a teacher qualified with a BEd(Hons) in primary education, who firmly believes in "Learning Through Play".
All units make good use of the large, all-weather, enclosed play area, which is well-equipped with climbing frame, play house, basket ball ring and bikes / trikes.
Our meals are freshly prepared in the nursery kitchen and consist of two courses.
A variety of balanced, wholesome food is served, with snacks in the morning and afternoon.
Children are encouraged to try, but never forced to eat, their food. Good manners are praised throughout meal times.
Special dietary requirements are catered for.
The Nursery was presented with a Silver Award by the Environmental Health Agency for high standards.
