A housebuilder in Worcester is encouraging children to play outside more this summer and embrace the nature on their doorstep by hosting a special family event.
Redrow Midlands is opening doors to the community for its ‘playmaking’ event on Saturday 26 July, from 11am-2pm at Kensington Gate on Bromyard Road, offering free canapes for visitors and fun games for the whole family to get involved with.   Aimed at inspiring children to play more and encouraging local people to connect with each other, the event will give youngsters the opportunity to try a range of classic outdoor games, including giant Snakes and Ladders, giant bowling and quoits.   Redrow’s commitment to play comes following research of more than 2,000 parents from across the country, including 500 parents with children who have physical disabilities. It reveals that half of parents of children with disabilities say their child is excluded from playgrounds due to accessibility issues. As a result, 51% say they are relying more on screens because there are not enough suitable outdoor play areas nearby.   These insights fuel the housebuilder’s mission to ensure children of all abilities and backgrounds can access safe, exciting outdoor spaces close to home, and is why the organisation has made a new commitment to create inclusive and accessible play areas as standard at its developments.   The initiative could deliver up to 100 new inclusive play areas for parents and children to enjoy across the country each year.   Elaine Cartwright, Sales Director at Redrow Midlands, said: “With school officially out for summer, we’re thrilled to be hosting this wonderful outdoor event. Inclusive and accessible play should be the standard, not the exception and our belief is that when we build with all children in mind, we can create places that work better for everyone.   “Our new commitment will help more children safely and confidently enjoy the freedom, fun and benefits of outdoor play.   “We look forward to welcoming the community down to Kensington Gate for what will be a fun filled day for all the family.”   Placemaking and the concept of play is a key priority at all Redrow developments, with designated open spaces, play-on-the-way spaces and multi-functional green corridors to encourage resident interaction and promote a better way to live.   Kensington Gate is located in a peaceful, residential area, just minutes away from the beautiful city of Worcester. Surrounded by green open spaces and with a good selection of schools and superb transport links, this development is proving popular with homebuyers.    For more information about Kensington Gate, visit redrow.co.uk/kensington-gate
