The notable performer Les Barker will be performing some of his best loved and most popular poetry at Huntingdon Hall, Worcester, on Thursday, November 4 at 8pm.
Originally from Manchester, he trained in accountancy before his talent for the written word was discovered. He started performing his poetry in folk clubs and was later able to move on to parodies of popular songs with The Mrs Ackroyd Band.
His poems have spawned a number of folk heroes: Jason and the Arguments, Cosmo the Fairly Accurate Knife Thrower, Captain Indecisive and Spot of the Antarctic, to name but two.
Les has remained firmly rooted in the circuit of folk clubs and festivals where he has a devoted following but has also toured Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Canada.
