As Santa prepared for his annual visit to West Midland Safari Park's Santa Safari, he got more than he bargained for.

On route to catch up with the reindeer, Santa took a short cut past the Elephant Reserve where 18-year-old Five was laying in wait following her early morning bath. Not one for skipping breakfast, Five helped herself to the tasty hay in Santa's sack that was intended for Rudolph.

The next time that Santa can be seen at the park is on Wednesday, December 1 and he will stay for the annual Santa Safari Event up until Christmas Eve.

Now in its sixth year, the event includes the four mile all-weather self drive safari; Discovery Trail which incorporates Seal Island, Twilight Cave, Creepy Crawlies, Seaquarium, Mark O'Shea's Reptile World, Sealion Show, friendly animal and reptile encounters and Santa's reindeer - Rudolph, Blitzen, Donner and youngster, Prancer.

Santa Safari is an exceptionally popular seasonal event and it is essential that visitors pre-book. Call 01299 400700 for tickets or book online at www.santasafari.com
