The East Anglian Air Ambulance, Anglia One, is a life saving air ambulance operating 365 days of the year covering Woodbrige, Aldeburgh and all areas of Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire.
It is a charitable organisation that receives no government or national lottery funding. All funding for this charitable organisation is from the generosity of the people and businesses of Woodbridge, Aldeburgh and East Anglia.
Since its foundation in 2000, this charity flies on average 4 missions per day making it the second busiest air ambulance in the country .
The services of the air ambulance are crucial particularly given the increasing road congestion and with East Anglia considered the most rural location in England many roads are too remote for a land ambulance to access in time. Already over 50% of the air ambulance time is taken up with road traffic accidents.
Chances of survival are greatly increased if patients are able to gain hospital care within “The Golden Hour”.
The East Anglian Air Ambulance relies totally on charitable donation and with running costs in the region of £65,000 per month to operate, this equates to just 50p per person living in Woodbridge and the whole of East Anglia per year .
