The event, hosted by HY5!, Wolverhampton’s SEND Forum for children and young people age 11 to 25, will take place at Cherry Street SEND and Sensory Hub on Tuesday 3 November, 2026, from 5pm to 7pm. It is open to young people aged 11 to 25, who are welcome to bring a parent, carer or other trusted adult for support if needed.
The session will give young people the opportunity to share their views on the draft strategy and discuss what is important to them as plans are developed to improve support and inclusion across the city. Places are limited and can be booked at eventbrite.
An easy read survey has also been launched to help more children and young people take part in the consultation and share their experiences and ideas, available at SEND Strategy 2027–2029 Easy Read Survey.
Councillor Jacqui Coogan, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, said: "Children and young people are at the heart of everything we are trying to achieve through our SEND and Inclusion Strategy, so it is really important that we hear directly from them.
"We want to know what is working well, what could be improved and what matters most to you. So, whether you attend the consultation event or complete the survey, your feedback will help shape the support and opportunities available to children and young people with SEND across Wolverhampton now and in the years ahead."
The 6 week public consultation on the draft SEND and Inclusion Strategy 2027 to 2029 remains open until Sunday 8 November, 2026. Children, young people, families, education settings, practitioners, partners and community organisations are all encouraged to take part and help shape the final strategy.
