The hub, off Railway Drive at the heart of the city centre’s transport Interchange, is this week celebrating its two-year anniversary.
Since opening in March 2024, it has welcomed over 17,000 city residents, with more than 1,800 enrolling for tailored employment support and over 1,000 of those Wolverhampton residents successfully moving into work.
The hub brings together partners from across the city and provides a joined-up approach to supporting residents into sustainable employment.
Its dedicated Wolves at Work team of work coaches identify and support adults and young people who are unemployed or economically inactive, offering personalised guidance, skills development, and pathways into work.
The team also work collaboratively with key partners including the NHS, National Careers Service, Supported Employment teams, Connexions Careers Advisors, the Open Door work experience team, City of Wolverhampton College, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), and Boost Financial Support, ensuring residents receive holistic support and guidance on employment, skills, health, careers advice, and financial wellbeing.
A key feature of the hub’s model is its strong engagement with employers and training providers, who are regularly invited to meet residents, promote live vacancies, and showcase training opportunities available across Wolverhampton and the wider region.
Sophie Richardson, resident supported into work with RAS Careers by Wolves at Work, said: “My experience with Wolves at Work has made a really big difference to me. It’s made me feel more positive in myself and that I can actually go out there and find a job. I’m now working and it’s helping me save up for my wedding, as I’m getting married soon, and pay my bills. I’m really grateful to everyone at Wolves at Work – they are all so helpful.”
Deniza Pavlova, resident supported into work as an assistant planning officer at the council by Wolves at Work, said: “Wolves at Work have supported me a lot. The people that work at Wolves at Work, don’t just support you with your career; they are your friends too. I’m so happy and my advice to anyone struggling to get a job is to come to Wolves at Work and try. Ask for support because Wolves at Work can help you to grow and they understand your needs.”
Heather Kaur Budesha, resident being supported by Wolves at Work, said: “Within the first week of coming to Wolves at Work I managed to secure interviews and two months prior to that I didn’t get any. The service of all the Wolves at Work staff has been amazing – I can’t praise them enough. It’s such an important service to have in the West Midlands, there’s nothing else like it.”
Councillor Chris Burden, City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for City Development, Jobs and Skills, said: “Over the past two years, the Wolves at Work hub has become an essential part of Wolverhampton’s employment and skills support offer.
“At a time when many residents are facing rising living costs, changing job markets, and increasing barriers to work, the hub provides a visible, welcoming and trusted space where people can access practical help, guidance and opportunity in one place.
“Celebrating this milestone recognises not only the achievements to date, but the collective effort of partners, employers and residents who have made the hub a cornerstone of opportunity in the city, providing brighter futures.”
The hub is in Unit 5 of the i10 building (opposite Sainsbury’s Local), Victoria Square, WV1 1LD, and is open Monday to Thursday (9am-5pm) and Friday (9am-4.30pm).
