The campaign brought together 12 local businesses in a friendly football-themed competition organised by Daniel-Scott Recruitment (DSR). Each participating company was randomly allocated a World Cup group, with the winning team’s progress determining the eventual recipient of a £100 charity donation from DSR.

In a twist of fate, DSR themselves drew the group containing tournament winners Spain. Choosing not to award their own business the prize, the recruitment specialist instead recognised the highest-placed participant, crowning TPSquared as the competition’s winner.

Rather than focusing solely on football results, TPSquared chose to direct the donation towards raising awareness of a cause that often receives increased attention during major sporting tournaments: domestic abuse. The £100 donation was made to The Haven Wolverhampton, a Women’s Aid organisation that supports women and children affected by domestic abuse.

Research from Lancaster University found that reported incidents of domestic abuse increase by 26% when England win or draw and rise to 38% when England lose during major football tournaments. These findings have been widely referenced by domestic abuse charities and awareness campaigns, including #StopItComingHome initiative.

More recent warnings from domestic abuse organisations and prosecutors continue to highlight the link between major football tournaments and increased reports of abuse, reinforcing the importance of supporting frontline charities such as The Haven Wolverhampton.

Carolyn Smith, Founder and Managing Director of TPSquared, said: “We were delighted to take part in Daniel-Scott Recruitment’s Summer of Football Fun campaign and even more delighted to be able to use the prize to support The Haven Wolverhampton. While football brings communities together and creates unforgettable moments, it’s important to remember that for some people, major sporting events can be a particularly difficult time.”

Lucy Cashmore, Managing Director of Daniel-Scott Recruitment, said: “The Summer of Football Fun campaign was all about bringing local businesses together, creating some friendly competition and, most importantly, giving something back. We were thrilled by the enthusiasm from all 12 participating businesses and are delighted that TPSquared chose to support The Haven Wolverhampton with the donation. It’s a fantastic charity doing essential work in our community.”

TPSquared are a creative agency committed to building inclusive brands and supporting positive social impact. For anyone affected by domestic abuse, support is available through The Haven Wolverhampton freephone helpline 08000 194 400 or online www.havenrefuge.org.uk.
