The Christmas season, while fun for many, also brings real money worries, so please talk to us now if you need help, advice and need to access support.
Time is running out to apply for financial support through the Household Support Fund (HSF) and receive it before Christmas.
If you need help to pay for food, energy and fuel and other household essentials you can make an application for support via our website here Household Support Fund | City Of Wolverhampton Council
We urge anyone needing help to contact our helpful team as soon as possible, to ensure we have enough time to review and process in time for the Christmas break. Applications need to be received by 5pm on Friday, 18 December 2025.
Residents can find out more about the support available by calling 01902 290241 and select option 2 and via our website Cost-of-Living-Support | City Of Wolverhampton Council
The council also wants to ensure everyone keeps warm this festive season and throughout the winter.
Winter warmth packs will be available from Family Hubs across the city, you can find the nearest location here Family Hubs | City Of Wolverhampton Council.
And it’s not just about the practicalities, the council is also working hard with our partners across the city to ensure all residents can have some Christmas fun with a host of free events, parties and Christmas dinners.
Fun kicks off this week with series of events for vulnerable and older residents which the council is helping to support. These include free Christmas dinners and free Christmas parties for children and their families.
And a wide variety of Christmas goods are on offer at great prices in our community shops located across the city, this even includes free second-hand children’s coats at the Caring Hearts community shop at Ashmore Park.
Please see our web page for details of support and events available over this festive period www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/cost-of-living-support.
Leader of the council, Councillor Stephen Simkins said: ‘Please contact us if you’re worried about money this Christmas, there’s a lot of great advice and support we can offer.
‘I don’t want anyone to be suffering in silence at any time of the year but especially not at Christmas when we might be able to help.
‘Everyone deserves some Christmas cheer and we’ve worked with our partners to ensure vulnerable families and anyone worried about the cost of the festive season can still access good food, fun and events no matter what their budget.
‘We believe in supporting our residents when they need us most and leaving nobody behind, so please reach out and talk to us.’
