The consultancy was tasked with developing an organisation-wide programme that strengthened how leaders think, behave and work together.

In consultation with stakeholders, Jam People Consulting introduced a three-tier programme for executives, senior leaders and line managers anchored in eight core behaviours essential to delivering Dudley’s corporate strategy.

The programme combined psychometrics, 180-degree feedback, leadership brand work, emotional intelligence development, ways-of-working sessions, strategy alignment events, coaching and mentoring.

Senior leaders and managers also applied their learning to live business projects, strengthening cross-functional collaboration and building confidence in decision-making.

Results from the first 12 months have been shown measurable improvement across seven of the eight behaviours and leaders reporting stronger cross-functional networks.

Line managers have described clearer one-to-one conversations with 100 per cent of employees now having clear objectives.

Personal development plans rose from under 15 per cent to nearly 50 per cent, and performance reviews completed on time increased from around 40 per cent to over 75 per cent year-on-year.

Alongside improvements in leadership capability and people processes, the society has continued to deliver against its strategic objectives, reporting strong growth in mortgage and savings balances and expanding its physical presence through new branches and community locations.

Helen Alcock, head of people and talent at Dudley Building Society, said: “JAM People Consulting are a very professional customer focussed business who have been integral in the successful roll out of our Leadership Development Programme across all levels of the Society.

“From regular structured project meetings keeping all facets of the programme on track and their flexible supportive approach throughout to the personable, human perspective of all their facilitators, they have demonstrated a great cultural fit for our business.

“The quality of their work, the tracking of success measures and the feedback from participants has evidenced the impact they have had on our people. JAM People Consulting are highly recommended!”

The next phase of development will focus on sustaining behavioural change, deepening psychological safety and ensuring leaders have the capacity and confidence to lead the Society through its next stage of growth.
