The City of Wolverhampton Council has thanked the many suppliers who have helped to ensure that vital items of personal protective equipment (PPE) has been made available to frontline staff throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
Well over five million items of PPE have now been distributed to workers by the council since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
They include face masks, gloves, eyewear, aprons, gowns and gallons of hand sanitiser, and have been given to local care providers, health workers and funeral directors as well as social care workers, bin crews, rapid testing teams and leisure, education, transport and housing staff to enable them to continue delivering essential services.
The council has purchased millions of items of PPE through the pandemic and has thanked key suppliers including Airguard Filters Ltd, Blyth Group Ltd, Giftfinder Ltd, Heatons Group Ltd, Kudos Marketing and Management Ltd, Mixtio Labs Ltd, Osborne Consulting Solutions Ltd, Smith Bros Ltd, Harmony Fire Ltd, Henry Schein Ltd, Medisup Ltd and Equilibrium Ltd.
Councillor Linda Leach, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services, said: “Despite a global shortage of personal protective equipment throughout the pandemic, we've continued to ensure a steady flow of vital PPE to our city’s frontline workers. This has helped to keep them, and the people they care for or support, safe from this deadly virus.
“We couldn't have done this without the support of our key suppliers who have been able to source and provide the equipment we, and our city’s services, needed and continue to need. I'd like to thank them all for their efforts.
"Covid-19 hasn't gone away; we’ve already distributed well over five million items of PPE and we'll carry on working as quickly as we can to get more out to the staff who need it, whether they work for the council, local care providers or other organisations or individuals who have found it hard to get PPE through their usual channels."
