The event takes place from 4pm until 8.30pm at the venue off Dudley Road in Blakenhall and will be hosted by the Shree Krishan Mandir, with UCLS announced as this year’s event sponsor. Following the switching on of the lights at 8pm, there will be a spectacular fireworks display.

Councillor Sally Green, City of Wolverhampton Council Cabinet Member for Resources, said: “Diwali is a wonderful event in our city that brings families, friend and communities together for a cultural celebration.

“The event is free and features top quality entertainment and a fantastic firework display. We encourage everyone to plan early and come along to celebrate this important event in the city’s calendar.”

People are advised to make their plans early as the event site has a capacity of 9,000 and will operate on a first come first served basis. Once capacity has been reached, the gates will shut and a one in one out system will be put in place.

The event is supported by the Indian Multicultural Society, Shree Krishan Mandir, Gurdwara Sikh Council & Gujarati Association.
