Walking enthusiasts across the Black Country are being urged to lace up their boots and map out a course to success – and join an incredible Walk 100 Miles in March challenge.

Acorns Children’s Hospice is asking people to take on the challenge step-by-step and do something amazing to help seriously ill children across the area.

And supporters who sign up now will get a FREE exclusive t-shirt to take on their travels.

Sophie Boreham, Events Manager at Acorns, said: “It’s time to Spring into action! Whether you walk a little every day, use the treadmill at the gym, or take on longer distances at the weekend in beautiful countryside, each step you take will mean so much.

“Not only will you get fitter and feel as fresh as a daisy, but every with every mile you’ll make a huge difference to children with life-limiting conditions and their families.”

The challenge takes place every single day throughout March, giving participants 31 days to complete the goal – and it’s free to take part.

Sophie said: “We’re asking each walker to be brilliant and raise £100 - that’s a pound for every mile walked. This will help us continue to support children and families through the most difficult times in their lives.

“By registering today, you’ll also get a free Acorns t-shirt to wear with pride as you walk, as a small thank you for stepping up and taking on the challenge.”

She added: “We’re here to support you all the way so get in touch and get that fantastic feeling for doing something that makes a real difference. Don’t daffodilly-dally around and sign up today!”

Acorns Children’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and support for their families.

In the past year, the charity has cared for more than 800 children across the West Midlands, and supported over 1,100 families, including those who are bereaved. Children visit Acorns for rehabilitative respite, symptom management, emergency and end-of-life care.

This care and support is provided from Acorns three hospices, based in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester, and in the community.

Acorns needs around £40,000 each day to provide its children’s hospice care, with more than 75% of that amount coming from generous donations and fundraising by the local community and income from its charity shops.
