The Mental Health Peer Network drop in is run by Rethink Mental Illness in partnership with the Service User Improvement Team (SUIT), Wolves Foundation and Good Shepherd, alongside OneWolverhampton – the city’s health and care partnership which includes the City of Wolverhampton Council. It offers a safe space for people to connect with one another.

It is open to anyone with lived experience of mental health issues, homelessness or related challenges who is working in a peer role, whether paid or voluntary, with an organisation or community group.

Participants can check in with peer mentors, share their experiences and insights of mental health support, and discover education, employment and training opportunities.

Sessions are held at the Rethink Train Station Hub at Wolverhampton railway station from 10am to noon, with the next meetings on Fridays 10 April and 1 May, 2026.

Councillor Obaida Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community, said: "Talking openly about our mental health is one of the most powerful things we can do – it breaks down stigma, builds understanding and reminds people that they are not alone.

"These sessions create a safe space for people with lived experience to support each other, share their stories and take positive steps forward together."

Howie Atkin, a volunteer with SUIT, attended for the first time last week and said: "I love the group. It is incredibly helpful for us all to share our experiences and what is going on in each of our individual areas.

“Just as importantly, it is also an opportunity for us to feel supported, to get advice or guidance about areas where we might be struggling, and to know that we are not alone – just like the people that we work with are not alone."
