Wolverhampton’s Paint the Day 2020 exhibition opened over the weekend at Newhampton Arts Centre. The much anticipated exhibition displays all artworks created earlier this year, during lockdown when NAC hosted their very first Paint the Day Online.

Paint the Day is Wolverhampton’s annual visual arts competition which took place online earlier this summer. The physical exhibition is now underway in NAC’s Muni gallery space,  running until the Sunday 18th November and features all finished artworks together in the one place for the first time since they were created.

Newhampton Arts Centre saflety invites you to ponder over all contestants work in your own time, to vote for your favourite work of art for the Paint the Day Public Vote Prize and to bid on a piece of histor because this year’s exhibition offers you the chance to own a one-of-a-kind lockdown artwork to hang on your walls.

A specially selected panel of judges have visited the exhibition over the last few days and are now debating prize winners from each Paint the Day category. You can hear the their verdict live via NAC’s Facebook page on  Friday October 16th at 6pm. Paint the Day 2020 prizes include First Prize of £200, Runner Up of £50, Under 18 Prize of £50, Photography Prize of £100, Photography Runner up of £50 and Photography Under 18’s of £50. The all-important public vote is still up to you, every exhibition visitor will receive a voting slip on arrival, allowing them to vote for their favourite artworks. As always the public prize winners will announced when the exhibition comes to a close. All prize winners will be contacted to arrange their prize payment. 

This stand out collaborative show celebrates the community spirit of our city, the creative nature and raw talent of the people who live within it and the spectacular beauty of our surroundings in which we have found the time to exlpore, reminding us that even in darker times there is light.

There will be extra measures in place at NAC to ensure your safety at the exhibition including a one way system and capped visitor numbers at any one time. The exhibition is FREE and open until the Sunday 18th October, 11am – 4pm each day (3pm on Sundays).
