Fixing roads and tackling potholes is a priority for City of Wolverhampton Council and more resurfacing will be taking place throughout the summer.

Roads to be given a new lease of life in the coming weeks include: Cannock Road, A41 Wellington Rd, Merridale Rd, Lichfield St, Neachells Lane, Wrottesley Rd, Wood End Rd, A4039 Millfields Rd, Whitgreave Avenue, Ruskin Ave, Hall Lane, Prestwood Rd, Rookery St and Cumberland Rd, with more improvements to follow.

Resurfacing in Merridale Road starts next Monday June 9 and runs to Friday June 13, between 9.30am and 3.30pm each day, and along the A41 Wellington Road from Wednesday June 11 to Tuesday June 17, between 7pm and 5am, weather permitting, with crews quickly moving on to the next roads.

Councillor Qaiser Azeem, City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, said: “We know just how important tackling potholes is to people and it is a priority for us.

“We are going to be out there resurfacing more roads right across the city in the coming weeks providing a smoother journey for all modes of transport.

“Thousands of potholes are repaired every year, but through a data led and targeted approach of preventative work we can reduce the number of defects occurring.”

The highways improvements are funded via the council’s £9.7m highway capital budget, recently boosted by a further £2m from the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS), meaning even more potholes will be filled and road resurfacing improvements carried out.
