£24,000 of the total was raised for The Mary Stevens Hospice, with the remaining funds shared between 10 smaller local charities.

Fundraising included a packed programme of staff-led activities including the firm’s popular annual charity football tournament which, in 2025 was the biggest to date with a huge 72 teams taking part. Higgs also coordinated a wellness walk, quiz nights, wreath making workshops, many bake offs and a festive Christmas craft fair to name a few. The firm’s Head of Restructuring and Insolvency, Lauren Hartigan-Pritchard even took on Machu Picchu in aid of charity, raising money for The Mary Stevens Hospice and West Midlands Air Ambulance.

The Mary Stevens Hospice provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care and support to people living with incurable illnesses and their families throughout the Dudley borough, the Black Country and surrounding areas.

Ruth Longville, Business Partnership Fundraiser at The Mary Stevens Hospice commented on the donation from Higgs LLP and said: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Higgs LLP for choosing The Mary Stevens Hospice as their charity of the year and for the amazing £24,000 they have raised. This support will make a real difference to the patients and families who rely on our care.”

Nyree Applegarth, Head of the Charity Committee at Higgs LLP, added: “Raising £40,000 in a single year is something we’re incredibly proud of, particularly as all of it has been driven by our people. We’re delighted to have been able to support a number of smaller local charities, too.”

Looking ahead to 2026, the firm is announcing that its chosen charity is The West Midlands Care Team, a charitable organisation that responds to serious medical incidents across the West Midlands in support of West Midlands Air Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust.

Nyree added, “We’re delighted to be supporting The West Midlands Care Team in 2026 and building another long-lasting relationship and to raise much needed funds to help them to continue to deliver real impact locally.

“We asked our Charity Committee to meet a number of local charities that were all suggested by our people and after hearing from each charity, we’re thrilled to have The West Midlands Care Team as our charity this year.”
