Adults with care and support needs, and families of children or young disabled people, can employ a Personal Assistant to help with day to day living.
This could include support with personal care, preparing meals, getting dressed, taking medication, developing independence, and getting to school, college or other activities.
It is a paid role, funded through an individual's Direct Payment or Personal Budget.
Councillor Linda Leach, the City of Wolverhampton Council's Cabinet Member for Adult Services, said: "Personal Assistants play a vital role in modern social care, giving people greater choice and control over the support they receive, and we need more people in Wolverhampton to consider this important career.
"Unlike traditional home care arranged by a council or agency, Personal Assistants are usually employed directly by the person they support. This means people can choose who supports them, what support they receive and when it is provided.
"They can also tailor their support to their lifestyle, preferences and daily routines, rather than following a set plan which may otherwise be the case."
Councillor Jacqui Coogan, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, added: "There are many benefits to becoming a Personal Assistant. Because you will often work closely with one person or family, you will have the time to provide personalised support, build meaningful professional relationships and see the positive difference you make every day.
"Many employers need support at different times of the day, meaning it may be possible to find hours that fit around family life, studies, other employment or personal commitments. And no previous experience is required, as full induction, training and health and safety support can be arranged.
"If you are compassionate, a good listener and enjoy helping others, this is a wonderful opportunity to spend quality one to one time with people while supporting them to live the life they choose."
