The new approach will take financial advice and guidance right into the heart of communities, helping residents who need it most access everything they’re entitled to and get support to better manage their money.

This means some families can then ensure they can make work pay for them, others can take better control of their finances, becoming more independent and financially resilient; being in better positions to manage unexpected cost.

Data shows £21 million is still unclaimed in Wolverhampton, accessing this money will transform lives.

Leader of the council, Councillor Stephen Simkins announced Boost at the Full Council meeting in December and today it becomes reality with residents encouraged to contact the Boost team now without delay.

Councillor Simkins said:

‘We’ve come together as one city and done all we can to help our residents through the financial challenges of the pandemic and the cost of living the last few years.

‘We’ve always believed in being there for our residents when they need us most and leaving nobody behind.

‘I’m launching Boost to build further on all the work we’ve done. It’s not right that people are struggling to make ends meet, we want everyone to thrive, not just survive in life.

‘There are millions going unclaimed by the decent people of this city, people who work hard, people who’ve paid into the system for years and people who just do not know what they’re entitled to.

‘It’s our role to ensure we give everyone the right help to access this income and empower them to unlock their full financial potential. More money gives people more control over every aspect of their lives.

‘I’d urge everyone who thinks they might be missing out or need help to better manage their day-to-day finances to get in touch with the Boost team now, don’t delay, it’s worth asking the question as it could be life changing.’

Residents can contact the Boost team in several different ways:
