The Kidical Mass ride is on Saturday 13 June and cyclists of all ages are urged to sign up now for free.

Riders follow a gentle route of 4.5 miles from East Park to Molineux stadium and back, on roads and cycle lanes developed by City of Wolverhampton Council.

The family bike ride will start shortly after midday following some short opening speeches.

There will also be plenty going on in the park from 11am to 4pm on the day, including the chance to try out East Park’s cycle speedway track for free, take part in bike skills sessions and enjoy family entertainment and refreshments.

Councillor Qaiser Azeem, Cabinet Member for City Transport at City of Wolverhampton Council, said: “Participants follow a route which includes the dedicated cycling infrastructure created by the council, reflecting our ongoing commitment to active travel and supporting healthier lifestyles.

“I hope we see a great turnout, and we’re treated to some sunshine on the day.”

The city’s cycling ambassador, Hugh Porter MBE, Commonwealth Games gold medallist and former world champion, has also shown his support by encouraging as many people as possible to get on their bikes and take part.

The UK Government-funded event is organised by No Limits to Health CIC and its founder, Sam Henry, working along with City of Wolverhampton Council and Transport for West Midlands and supported by Black Country Transport, British Cycling, Cycling UK and the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust among others.

Those taking part are asked to bring their own roadworthy bikes and helmets.

Bike marshals will accompany riders, but younger children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children remaining in the park must also be accompanied by an adult.
