Representatives from the Camphill Village Trust and the City of Wolverhampton Council will be on hand to speak to people who are interested in the role at the event, taking place on the ground floor of the Civic Centre on Wednesday 2 September from 10.30am to 2pm.

The drop in will also provide an opportunity for social workers and other social care professionals to learn more about Shared Lives and how appropriate referrals into the service can help people access personalised support in a family based setting.

Shared Lives is a unique form of social care for adults and young people aged 16 and over who need care and support. People are carefully matched with trained Shared Lives carers who welcome them into their own family homes, providing personalised support that promotes independence, wellbeing and inclusion.

The service is similar to fostering and supports a wide range of people, including adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, physical or sensory impairments, older people, and young people moving into adult services.

Depending on an individual's needs, support can be provided through long term living arrangements, short breaks, day support, evening support and emergency care. Shared Lives carers are self employed and receive a regular fee based on the care needs of the person they support.

Earlier this year, the council recommissioned Camphill Village Trust to continue delivering Shared Lives in the city, with plans to recruit more carers and help more people benefit from this highly successful and personalised model of support.

"We have recently recommissioned Camphill Village Trust to continue delivering this important service in Wolverhampton and we are keen to recruit more Shared Lives carers so that even more people can benefit from it.
