Shoppers can be sure of a safe and friendly welcome at the city’s markets as well as taking advantage of peaceful browsing during some quieter times.
Safety measures are in place at Bilston Indoor and Outdoor Markets, Wednesfield Market and the City Centre Market to ensure traders and customers feel secure as coronavirus (Covid-19) restrictions continue.
These include access to hand sanitising stations, safe distance markers, face coverings for both shoppers and traders (unless exempt) and managing customer numbers at busy times through a queuing system.
Public toilets at City Centre and Bilston Markets are also available with a thorough cleaning regime in place.
And anyone who would like to visit their favourite market during a quieter period to avoid larger numbers of people or any queues, can choose earlier and later shopping slots.
Councillor Steve Evans, cabinet member for city environment & climate change at City of Wolverhampton Council, said: “Our stall holders and officers have worked very hard to adhere to the Government guidance and anyone visiting our markets can be assured of a safe visit.
“Wolverhampton’s markets are a great place to buy your essential and non-essential items. And with the recent good weather, our markets also offer an excellent way to shop in the open air.
“At the moment, we understand that some people may prefer not to be in busy places. For that reason, we would recommend that they avoid the popular times of 10am to 2pm and instead join us earlier or later in the day.
“We continue to work with our traders to make sure they have the correct measures in place to operate safely. And we would like to encourage everyone to pay a visit to their local market and support independent traders.”
Markets opening times are as follows:
Customers are encouraged to pay using contactless to reduce the amount of cash being handled by staff.
