The Wolverhampton Covid-19 mobile testing unit is moving to Bilston this week, offering rapid LFT testing without needing to book an appointment.

The mobile unit will be in Pinfold Street Car Park between 12noon and 6pm today (Wednesday 28 July) and then open daily from 8am to 6pm until Sunday (1 August).

Rapid coronavirus testing is free and available to anyone who does not have symptoms of the virus. Tests are quick and easy, with results in around an hour. Anyone over the age of 2 can get tested, but under 18s should be accompanied by an adult.

Councillor Jasbir Jaspal, the City of Wolverhampton Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, said: “Despite social restrictions easing, the Covid-19 virus continues to spread, with around 920 people testing positive in our city in the last seven days.

“Around a third of those people may not have had any symptoms, or known they were infected, but could still have been passing it on to other people. That’s why regular rapid testing is so important; it identifies cases that could otherwise have gone on to spread the virus further, without knowing that they had it themselves.

“Rapid tests at the mobile unit are quick and easy and the results sent to you in around an hour.”

As well as at the mobile LFT testing unit at Pinfold Street Car Park, rapid testing is also available at The Civic Centre from Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm, at the Jamia Masjid Bilal Mosque 10am until 7pm daily and at Ashmore Park Hub between 9am and 6pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Rapid LFT testing kits can also be collected from locations around the city or ordered online for home delivery. For more information about rapid testing and how to get testing kits, please visit www.wolverhampton.gov.uk/get-tested

Covid-19 tests for people with symptoms of the virus, such as a fever, a new and continuous cough or a change to your sense of taste or smell, are bookable online at www.nhs.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by calling NHS 119.
