Hosted by the City of Wolverhampton Council, Wolverhampton Literature Festival returns from 3 - 5th February 2023 for it`s 7th year.

The festival aims to champion the creative voices of Wolverhampton and the West Midlands and provide a platform to showcase their talents.

And this year Poet in Residence at 101.8 WCR FM, Wolverhampton`s radio station, is marking the countdown.  "I have supported every literature festival in Wolverhampton", said Ian Henery, Poet in Residence, "but next year`s going to be a bit special.  For the first time ever there will be 3 days of free entertainment in the Mander Centre Community Hub hosted by 101.8 WCR FM.  We have packed each day with 10 hours of entertainment with an outside broadcast on each day by Jason Forrest, Tim Beech and Chris Allen".

The programme of events hosted by WCR FM includes an exciting line up of poetry and spoken word throughout the weekend with authors, publishers, poets and storytellers including the world premiere of a play - "The Plastic Migrant" - inspired by Professor Rashid Gartrad OBE DL and featuring local children.  The poetry collective Poets Against Racism will be performing along with Communities Against Racism Enterprise from Wolverhampton.

"The festival gives talented people from across Wolverhampton and the West Midlands a platform to showcase their talents" said Ian Henery "speak about things close to their heart and break down some of the barriers we face in today`s world".

City of Wolverhampton Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for City Economy, Councillor Stephen Simkins, said, "The festival is a huge success and a major part of our events programme in the city.  In 2022 we reached an international audience and hope to reach them again with the exciting programme we have planned for 2023.  I encourage as many people as possible to get involved, whether that be through reading, story writing, poetry or performance-based activities".
