Staff at City of Wolverhampton College will be bidding a fond farewell to the Paget Road campus at a special lunch this Thursday, 23 October.
The event will mark the closure of the site ahead of the opening of the college’s new campus at the City Learning Quarter, in Wolverhampton city centre, on Tuesday, 4 November.
Around 50 staff who are based at the Compton site will be gathering to share memories of their time at the campus, which opened as Wulfrun College in 1962.
Louise Fall, principal and chief executive of the college said: “The Paget Road campus holds a special place in the hearts of many of us at the college and I know that there will be an element of sadness as we say goodbye to a site that has played a significant role in the education of local people for over 60 years.
“But, as one door closes another one opens and we are extremely excited about moving to the City Learning Quarter and getting ready to welcome students to the new campus after the half term break.
“The opening of the site will mark the start of a new chapter for the college and we are looking forward to building on the legacy of Paget Road and continuing to educating and training thousands more students and apprentices in the years to come.”
Subjects currently taught at Paget Road will transfer to the city centre campus and members of the public will have the opportunity to look around the new site at an open day on Saturday, 22 November.
To preserve memories of the campus, the college has set up a heritage page on its website featuring old photographs and interviews with former students and staff - visit the page at www.wolvcoll.ac.uk/our-college/heritage/
