A team at City of Wolverhampton College which has been helping local organisations to adopt digital technologies is in the running for a national award.
The college's digital innovation team has been shortlisted in the Teams and Institutions category of the Association for Learning Technology (ALT) Awards 2025.
The ALT is the leading professional body for learning technology in the UK and the award recognises outstanding strategic enhancement of teaching, learning and assessment through the use of digital technology.
The recognition is for the team’s work in delivering a Black Country Innovation Services’ project which has supported over 100 small and medium enterprises to understand or adopt artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, green technology and digital tools to drive innovation, resilience and sustainable growth.
The team designed and delivered a flexible business-focused programme through the college’s Digital Innovation Hub and provided masterclasses, consultancy, support and bespoke training on the latest cutting-edge technology to over 100 people.
As a result of the initiative and staff benefitting from the team’s expertise, businesses have reported improved productivity, securing new contracts and embedding sustainable practice in their day-to-day operations.
Students and apprentices at the college have also benefited from the initiative and gained real-world experience and future-ready skills through the use of inclusive, ethical and impactful learning technology.
As part of the same awards scheme, two members of the team – Conrad Taylor, Head of Business Learning Technologies, and Sage Lal, Innovate Consultant – have been nominated for a Community Choice Award with the winner voted for by ALT members.
Winners of all the awards will be announced at a ceremony at the ALT annual conference in Glasgow on October 23.
Businesses interested in taking advantage of the programme should contact Sage Lal by emailing lals@wolvcoll.ac.uk or calling 07957 259445.
