The prize freeze will help residents to dispose of their unwanted items and waste in a safe and convenient way.

It also aims to discourage the use of unauthorised waste carriers who can often take money from households for removing waste - and then dump it illegally.

Under UK law, residents have a legal duty of care for the correct disposal of their rubbish and can face fines or prosecution if it is dumped - even if someone else was paid to take it.

Existing prices for collection of bulky waste items, white goods and clinical waste will be unchanged for the next 12 months.

Charges will remain at £33 for bulky item collections, £26.50 for white goods collections, and £13.20 for clinical waste collections. 

In addition, charges for sports pitch hire and changing facilities will remain unchanged for 2026/27. The decision supports the council’s priority to provide healthy and inclusive communities.

Councillor Qaiser Azeem, cabinet member for resident services at City of Wolverhampton Council, said: “Following a review of our fees and charges, we have taken the decision to freeze the costs of these popular services.

“Keeping the three bulky waste collection charges at their current level means residents can not only access a convenient service but avoid being targeted by disreputable waste carriers.

“By freezing fees for hire of our sports pitches and changing facilities, the council is helping to keep access to sport and physical activity affordable for adults and children across the city.”

The decision to hold the bulky waste collection charges follows an announcement made earlier this year of a three-year price freeze for its garden waste service.

The decision was made after listening to views from residents and means garden waste collections will remain at £55 – the equivalent of £2.61 per collection - until 2029.
