Last Christmas, thanks to the generosity of supporters, Branches of Joy gifted more than 48 beautifully decorated Christmas trees to care-experienced families. Each tree was not merely festive decor—it was a beacon of hope, a sign of belonging, and the start of new traditions for children and carers navigating a season that can be especially heavy.
This year, with the UK expected to see at least 669 child protection referrals on Christmas Day alone, the need for community compassion is greater than ever.
“Christmas can be especially tough for families with care experience. Our goal is to fill homes with joy, proving that they are cherished members of our community,” says Susan Vickers, Founder of the Susan Vickers Foundation.
The campaign’s impact is best illustrated through stories like Amber’s:
“Receiving our tree last year was a turning point. It made my children feel seen and loved, and brought laughter back into our home for the first time in months.”
