Young and old came together for a fun-filled 5K event to raise money for people living with sight loss across the Black Country.

This year’s event was the largest to date, with around 300 people signing up after Beacon froze ticket prices at 2025 rates to make the event as accessible as possible. More than £6,000 was raised including £554.50 on the day!

Every participant received a medal as they crossed the finish line, covered head-to-toe in bright powder paint and some huge smiles.

The race got off to a colourful start thanks to the Mayor of Wolverhampton, Councillor Craig Collingswood and actor Rupi Lal, who launched the event with a spectacular burst of colour before runners, walkers and families made their way around East Park.

The annual Colour Run is one of Beacon’s biggest fundraising events of the year and helps support more than 37,000 people living with sight loss across the region.

Sarah Dovey, Fundraising Manager at Beacon, said: “We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated and supported the event. The atmosphere was incredible from start to finish and the support we’ve seen means so much.

“We had some truly inspiring fundraisers taking part this year, including eight-year-old Alice who completed her very first 5K event after previously taking part in local junior park runs. Alice has raised an amazing £500 for Beacon.

“Another fantastic supporter was Jade and her family, who together raised more than £135.

“It’s because of people like Alice, Jade and everyone who joined us on the day that we can continue supporting local people living with sight loss to build confidence, learn new skills and live more independently.”

Professional photographer Nathan Styles was on hand throughout the morning to capture the colourful celebrations, with photos set to be shared with participants in the coming days.
