The Fostering for Wolverhampton team will be out and about across the city throughout September, offering opportunities for residents to find out more about fostering in a relaxed and informal setting.

Whether meeting the team face to face or joining an online information session, people will be able to ask questions, hear from experienced foster parents and learn about the support available to help them begin their fostering journey.

‘Every child deserves love, safety and someone who believes in them. You could be the reason a child believes in tomorrow’ – that's the message behind Fostering for Wolverhampton's latest appeal which encourages more residents to consider fostering and make a lasting difference to the lives of local children and young people.

Fostering through the council helps children stay connected to their schools, friends and communities, providing stability and continuity at a time when they need it most. It also means foster parents receive dedicated local support, specialist training and guidance from a team that understands the needs of children in Wolverhampton.

Councillor Jacqui Coogan, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, said: "Our foster parents play a vital role in helping children and young people feel safe, supported and valued. They provide stability, encouragement and care at a time when it is needed most, helping children build confidence and believe in their futures.

"A child only needs one person to believe in them to help change the course of their future. Foster parents provide that belief, that stability and that sense of belonging. By fostering for Wolverhampton, local people can help local children believe in tomorrow."

There is no single type of foster parent: people from all backgrounds and walks of life can foster, whether they are single, married, working, retired, renting or own their own home. What matters most is the ability to provide a safe, stable and nurturing environment for a child.

Alongside a regular fee and allowance when caring for a child, foster parents benefit from dedicated training, ongoing support and a strong local fostering community.

People will have several opportunities to meet the Fostering for Wolverhampton team throughout September, including events at the Wulfrun Centre, St John's Retail Park and an online information session. Anyone can drop in for an informal chat, speak to foster parents and find out more about the application process, training and support available.
