s part of the club’s ongoing investment in youth football, AFC Wolves opened its latest Development Centre at Leisure United, Wednesbury (WS10 0JX) in March.
Sessions have already seen strong demand, reflecting the club’s growing reputation for structured, high-quality player development. The programme is designed for aspiring players who want to progress beyond matchday football, focusing on technical excellence, game understanding and decision-making. This new centre forms an essential part of the club’s wider player pathway and long-term development strategy.
AFC Wolves’ popular 16–19 Scholarship Programme continues to go from strength to strength. With Easter half-term trials approaching, the club is encouraging Year 11 students and their families to register interest in what has become one of the area’s most respected pathways for dedicated young athletes. The full-time education and football pathway offering competitive match opportunities, strength and conditioning provision, accredited academic qualifications, and progression routes to university, semi-professional football, and coaching.
The club’s impact now extends far beyond the pitch. Through football, education, and community initiatives, AFC Wolves supports more than 1,000 children and young people every week — a milestone that reflects both the club’s ambition and the trust placed in it by local families. To support this continued expansion, AFC Wolves is building new partnerships across the region.
The club is actively engaging will schools and colleges, community organisations, health and wellbeing providers. They are also forging strong ties with the local business community through membership of the Black country Chamber of Commerce.
Luke Thompson, Director of AFC Wolves said “The combination of new player pathways, expanding educational programmes, and deepening community ties highlights a club in the middle of a major period of growth. AFC Wolves remains committed to providing high-quality opportunities for young people, both on and off the pitch, and continues to build a reputation as one of the region’s most forward-thinking community football organisations.
"We invite organisations that share our values to join us in shaping a positive, community-driven future."
