Adult Education Wolverhampton welcomed more than 300 prospective Students, families and members of the local community to its Summer Open Day on Saturday 20 June, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the wide range of courses and support available to adults aged 19+.

The event created a lively and welcoming atmosphere throughout the day, with entertainment from DJ MS L VIBEZ, singer John Martin and the Wolverhampton Pipe Band helping to make the event engaging and enjoyable for visitors.

Visitors were able to discover courses across a broad range of subjects and prospective students were able to meet teachers, tour the facilities and speak directly with staff about the courses and opportunities available. Visitors showed particular interest in Digital Skills, Maths, English and ESOL, while the summer craft stall proved popular and the tombola was a great success.

A number of local organisations also attended to provide information and support, including West Midlands Police, Wolverhampton Voluntary & Community Service, Wolverhampton LGBTQ+ and WV Active.

One of the strongest aspects of the day was the opportunity for meaningful one-to-one conversations with prospective students. Feedback from attendees included:

  • "It was managed really well, thank you!"
  • "One of the most positive aspects of the event was that we had enough time to speak with each visitor individually, answer their questions, and discuss their interests without feeling rushed. This created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere which visitors responded to very positively. People appeared comfortable, engaged and genuinely pleased with the conversations they were having."
  • "Volunteers were great. Loved the bagpipes and DJ. Low queuing times for students."
  • A previous Student commented: "AEW is very good for the community, providing support in many aspects. Thank you very much for everything here."
