Wirral Bird Club - “Birding by Sound” - An illustrated presentation by Keith Offord - Thursday 24th September 24th 2026, from 7.30 pm (doors open 7.00 pm).
Bird songs and calls, their function and how we can use them
Whilst we all focus on what birds look like, they often tell us who they are and where they are – even when we can’t see them. In the Summer, it is likely that we will hear far more birds than we will see, so knowing their sounds can be very useful.
This talk explores the biology and function of bird sounds and the ways in which we can familiarise ourselves with the songs and calls, using examples of both common and less common species.
The attached Male Blackcap photograph was taken by Keith.
This illustrated presentation will take place at St Bridget’s Church Centre, Church Road, West Kirby, Wirral, CH48 7HL.
Visitors are very welcome, and the cost is £4.00, which includes tea/coffee and biscuits.
This is not a ticket event - please just come along.
