RSPB Wirral Local Group – “Looking for the Goshawk” - An illustrated presentation by Conor Mark Jameson - Thursday 4th June 2026, from 7.30 pm (doors open at 7.15 pm).
Conor Mark Jameson has written for the Guardian, BBC Wildlife, the Ecologist, New Statesman, Africa Geographic, NZ Wilderness, British Birds, Birdwatch and Birdwatching magazines and has been a scriptwriter for the BBC Natural History Unit. He is a columnist and feature writer for the RSPB magazine and has worked in conservation for 20 years, in the UK and abroad. He is the author of Silent Spring Revisited, Shrewdunnit and Looking for the Goshawk.
Conor’s talk is a personal, narrative account of the natural history of the Goshawk, a mystery-shrouded bird of prey: how it lives, where it lives, and why it might be missing from our lives. His search takes him to some unexpected places, at home and abroad. The talk focuses on how this adventure turned into the essay with which Conor won BBC Wildlife Nature Writer of the Year, and then the book, which received awards from the Society of Authors and the Royal Literary Fund.
This illustrated presentation will take place at St Luke’s, 19 Market Street, Hoylake, Wirral, CH47 2BF
Local group members free. Visitors are very welcome, and the cost is £5.00.
