Based in Birkenhead, Wirral, on the old St Laurence’s School site, Tomorrow’s Women Wirral (TWW) is a women-only community charity.

Tomorrow’s Women Wirral (TWW) is a women-only community charity, based locally in Birkenhead. One of its principal aims is to offer support to women in order to prevent offending. From gaining skills and qualifications to getting support and a chat in a safe environment, all women across the Wirral are welcome.

The Charity

Based in Birkenhead, Wirral, on the old St Laurence’s School site, the friendly and supportive centre can provide real support from other women, some of whom have been through and experienced prison themselves. 

Tomorrow’s Women Wirral have received three years’ rent funding from the National Lottery, and have just won Community’s Connect Award (20/20 decade of health and wellbeing contribution to recycling and eco-friendliness). 

The Support 

There is a comprehensive range of self-help workshops available every week day, including:

  • Mindflow: release from stress and anxiety
  • The Olive Branch: a course to help women with opiate  issues
  • Black box therapy
  • Anger management
  • Assertiveness
  • Goal setting
  • Laughter therapy
  • Relation awareness
  • Employment, training and education
  • Advice and guidance on benefits and social housing
  • Drop-in counselling
  • Health and social care NVQ
  • Alcohol awareness and education
  • Health, weight management and lifestyle advice
  • Family law advice

The services 

TWW has a drop-in Breakfast Club that provides tea, coffee, toast, cereal, etc all day. 

There’s a washing machine and dryer that women can book the use of and shower and washing facilities too.

There’s plenty of fun to be had too – Tomorrow’s Women Wirral have a huge range of practical and engaging activities, including:

  • Making new clothes from old at our recycle project
  • Jewellery design
  • Gardening in our walled garden and vegetable beds
  • IT skills in out digital inclusion project
  • Walks in the park
  • Reflexology
  • Reading with children
  • Yoga
  • Holistics
  • Art classes
  • Hair styling

They offer taster courses with Wirral Metropolitan College and Life Long Learning, advice and guidance to enhance confidence and lots of opportunities to make positive life choices.

New women can refer themselves, or be referred through any Wirral agency. They’ll be greeted by a TWW mentor and made very welcome. 

Fundraising

TWW receives no central Government funding and relies on donations, bid applications and strong partnerships with the police, probation, public health, DAAT, fire and rescue, etc.

There’s also a great car boot sale on the last Saturday of every month.
