Old Windsor beats a Guinness UK Record!

Today, Old Windsor proved that social media and word-of-mouth truly is a force to be reckoned with.

The majority of the organisation and recruitment of Christmas jumper wearers was done via Facebook - via the We Love Old Windsor group and of course other people sharing and posting via their own groups and pages.

Credit must be given to the brainchild of the attempt - Sarah Wants. It was a massive undertaking and well rewarded with success in a new record!

But well done to everyone who braved the cold to come down and take part.

The annual Old Windsor Christmas Fayre was set-up when I arrived at 3.50pm and had a fantastic variety of products on offer (I couldn't resist the hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows and a mince pie. Can't have enough mince pies).

There was a great community feel and of course anticipation as we registered everyone for the record attempt and then filtered everyone through to hae their photo taken, be counted and then assembled at the top of the road.

Finally, at around 5.50pm, we all waited for 5 minutes to verify the attempt and then - we found out we'd done it (subject to offical verification).

Same time, same place next year, 1,000 Christmas jumpers??? ;-)
