Stormtrooper Vs Tax Returns

Even Star Wars Storm Troopers have to file tax returns!

Okay, well, not really the Storm Trooper, but the actor inside the storm trooper outfit may have to.

I recently took on a new client who is an actor and is appearing as a storm trooper in the forthcoming Star Wars movie.  As a sole trader he has to file his tax return for the year ended 5 April 2015 and pay any tax due by 31 January 2016.

 Although 31 January 2016 may seem like a long way off - in a galaxy far, far away -, filing your tax return early has a number of benefits:

1. avoids any penalties that arise from late filing;

2. provides certainty over the amount of any tax you owe (remember filing early doesn’t mean you have to pay your tax before 31 January 2016);

3. accelerates any refund you may be due from HMRC; and

4. it just gets it out of the way!

At TaxAssist Accountants Windsor & Maidenhead, we help individuals, sole traders, partnerships and small companies with their tax affairs and the initial consultation is free.

May the force be with you...and if the "force" can't be there to help with your tax return we certainly can!
