Best reads for the road!

If you were to ask us, we would tell you that there is no better place to read than on the road.

A good book can be a traveller’s best friend.

Those long haul flights and trains, coaches, buses and airport waits can become arduous, but with a riveting read to hand they can be transformed from wasted time to enriching escapes in which you travel to other realms and worlds of boundless adventure.

So next time you head off on holiday don’t forget to pack a few books and enjoy that feeling of getting lost amongst the words of great men.

On The Road – Jack Kerovac

The original inspiration for wanderlust, this cross country bohemian odyssey narrated by Sal Paradise, not only influenced writing in the years since its 1957 publication but also penetrated into the deepest levels of American thought and culture. After reading this book you may never be able to stay in one ever place again.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas – Hunter S. Thompson

Surreal and seriously sharp, Thompson’s tale of a drug fuelled trip to sin city sees oddball journalist, Raoul Duke and his psychopathic lawyer, Dr Gonzo take on a series of psychedelic escapades.

The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho

A young shepherd boy follows his dreams from Spain to Egypt in this awe inspiring novel. Full of wisdom and thought-provoking comment The Alchemist is the perfect companion for anyone seeking a journey.

Eat Pray Love – Elizabeth Gilbert

Full of enlightenment and smiles this is a book that will have you booking a one-way ticket and falling in love with distant places and people you have yet to meet.

Peter Pan – J M Barrie

For the child in all of us Neverland is the perfect world for the voyaging traveller. This is a fairy tale packed full of wonder, adventure and childlike spirit.
