Plane Productive

When you spend a great deal of your life travelling for work you need to make use of every spare second. Flitting between meetings and jumping on and off of planes, trains and automobiles can be tough and mean that there is not much down time to catch up on those pesky to do lists.

Travelling for work is draining and it’s demanding too so being productive, on top of all the tiring travelling, isn’t always a top priority. But if you really get yourself focused and into a routine you will be surprised at how much time you can claw back during your business trips, allowing you some much needed R&R when your trip is over.

So next time you find yourself stuck in an airport lounge or on long haul flight why not try some of our tips and see if you can get productive in the air…

Check List

We are champions of the humble list! We believe that the best way to be productive anywhere is to write down what needs to be done. It helps you sort your thoughts and aids you in deciding the order of importance. So after you have checked-in grab yourself a coffee, a pen and make yourself an inflight plan.

Get Organised

Make sure you have all the materials you will need in order to complete your tasks. Most planes now offer Wi-Fi but if not consider what you will need in order to work offline. Working pens, highlighters and sticky tabs are all necessities. And don’t forget to make sure your laptop or tablet is full charged and ready for action.

Eat Right

Flying can take its toll, so make sure you fuel your mind and body for the long haul. Snack throughout the flight on healthy fruits and nuts to keep energy up. Heavy meals can induce fatigue and it’s advisable to lay off of the alcohol until you have completed your checklist. Instead opt for water and the odd coffee to keep you alert and save the wine for later.

Have a break

But don’t forget to have a break. If you start to feel restless and unfocused down tools and take five minutes for yourself. Walk up the galley and get those legs moving, have a drink and read a magazine. Just escape for a while.

Touch Down

Thanks to prior planning and preparation you worked hard during your flight so when you finally touch down forget about work for a while. You are prepared for that meeting and your notes are in order so head to your hotel room order room service and indulge for a little while or if you can get out and about and make the most of the city you find yourself in.

Happy Travels!
