SUNNY EASTER GETAWAY

Do something different this Easter, why not swap the wind and the rain for the sun this Easter?

There is no better time to take a weekend break or holiday than over Easter, with warm temperatures and fewer crowds.

Much of southern Europe is basking in blue skies and warm weather

Easter sees the start of the holiday season for much of the Mediterranean and one of the joys of a getaway at this time is that many destinations celebrate Easter with colourful parades and processions, markets and outdoor cafes.

Cyprus

Situated in the Mediterranean Sea is the island of Cyprus. Its eastern coast has white sandy beaches and shallow turquoise waters, as well as rocky outcrops which are perfect for snorkelling and diving.

From the quiet backwaters of the western peninsula, to the lively resorts in the east, the island has something for everyone.

There is so much to see and do:

  • The Waterworld Waterpark at Aiya Napa is one of the most popular destinations.
  • In Paphos there are a number of excellent attractions - the most stunning being Aphrodites Rock.

The ‘ethereal and blessed land' of Cyprus is a paradise with monuments of religious devotion where the whole spectrum of Christianity’s historical and cultural development can be seen.  In fact it has several religious routes including the Local Route of Lemesos.

With an average of 22 degrees and only 4-5 hours away from England, Cyprus is a perfect Easter getaway.

Portugal – Faro

Faro is the most beautiful coastal getaway for your Easter holiday escape.  It has something for everyone.

Families are catered for in every way.  It is in the district of the Algarve in southern Portugal with a lovely marina and a historic old town full of outdoor cafes.

It has a buzzing nightlife and busy theatres.

Its medieval quarters are home to strange museums, churches and even a bone chapel.

Faro is the perfect place for an Easter holiday with its lagoons of the Parque Natural da Ria Formosa and nearby beaches, including the islands of ilha de Faro to the southwest and ilha da Barreta to the south.

Not far away, The Algarve is spectacular.  It has breathtaking cliffs and golden beaches.  Its activities are second to none, with its beach bars, castles, diving, entertainment and so much more.

The enchanting Algarve boasts pretty castle towns and historic villages. With an average spring temperature of around 23 degrees and only 3 to 4 hours away from England, there is nowhere better for a sunny Easter break.

Madeira

Madeira is full of colour and vibrancy especially at the weekly markets, full of produce and local specialities.

It is only 3-4 hours away from England and an average of 23 degrees in spring. Madeira is the ideal holiday destination all year round.

It offers superb accommodation, fantastic scenery and an escape for the perfect Easter break.

Madeira has numerous Easter festivals which fall on the 24th April 2015. Each year thousands of locals and tourists visit the rural areas to see the performance of the re-enacting of the Stations of the Cross also known as Way of the Cross.

For a wonderful Easter break, one can visit the Botanical Gardens by cable car and then descend by wicker toboggan through the streets of Funchal.
