Allegri's Miserere - a grand tour of European Sacred Music across 5 centuries
Romsey Choral Society is always delighted to perform their spring concert in the outstanding surroundings of the church at St Cross, Winchester.
This year, the new musical director, Richard Pearce, will lead the choir on a Grand musical Tour of Europe spanning five centuries and showcasing music by composers hailing from 10 countries! The programme offers the audience a range of pieces to suit all tastes, and showcases the versatility of the choir and the remarkable acoustic of the lovely building.
The concert starts at 7.30pm on Sunday 22nd March 2020 with tickets priced at £15.
The choir’s performance standard and repertoire continue to develop under the guidance of Richard Pearce, building on the work of the previous conductor Jamie W Hall. The choir continues to attract attention from local music lovers and welcomes new members each term.
As well as structured concerts in Romsey and Winchester, the choir is pleased to support local partners such as Jane Scarth House with the Messiah in November 2019, and Norwood Primary School in Eastleigh for their Carol concert in December. Romsey Choral Society is also looking forward to performing with the City of Southampton orchestra as the opening event for Romsey Festival 2020 in July, in a performance of Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius.
