At Care UK’s Little Brook House, in New Malden, pearls will shimmer and spirits will be high as the community is invited to join residents for a dazzling 1920s Gatsby-inspired summer soirée on Wednesday 24th June, from 14:30pm-16:30pm.   

In the run up to the celebrations, residents have been getting into the swing of things with some hands-on crafting, designing their very own headpieces and headbands fit for a 1920s flapper’s wardrobe, alongside banners and centrepieces decorated with pearls and feathers.

On the day of the party, those in attendance will be treated to live entertainment from singer Adina Smallwood, followed by a playlist of 1920s classics, including some much-loved suggestions from the residents themselves, which is sure to keep everyone’s toes tapping.

Guests will also be able to indulge in treats and refreshments, explore a memory table filled with vintage treasures reminiscent of the time while those feeling lucky can join the casino table, specially set up for the occasion.

Joan, a resident at Little Brook House, said: “I am looking forward to the party, especially the live entertainment and refreshments. My favourite thing about the 1920s has to be the fashion, people always looked elegant and well-dressed, and I especially loved the stylish top hats.”

Natasha, Activities coordinator at Little Brook House, added: “We are so excited to be bring the glamour of the Gatsby era to Little Brook House. The residents have loved getting involved in the crafts and it’s been wonderful to hear all about the memories and stories the activities have already sparked.

“On the day, we’re hoping everyone will embrace the spirit of the twenties and dress up, have fun and enjoy a truly special afternoon together. We have some fantastic entertainment from a local singer lined up too, it is really set to be a brilliant celebration of the decade!

“Moments like these are so important. Not only do they celebrate residents’ histories, but they also bring people together. These events encourage connection, conversation and a shared sense of joy. We can’t wait to welcome in the local community; we’re sure this celebration will be the cat's pyjamas!”
