Helping you find a practical solution

Family Mediation is a process whereby an impartial third person, an independent mediator, helps people involved in a family breakdown to make arrangements following a separation or a divorce or even the breakdown of same-sex relationships and relationships involving the wider family. Whilst this process is managed by the mediator, the issues are those of the families involved.

Issues requiring mediation normally centre on arrangements for divorce or separation. Typically, this involves children, finance and property, communication and relationship problems.

Who are the mediators?

Elisabeth Brann

The principal mediator at Wimbledon Family Mediation is Elisabeth Brann. Elisabeth is a qualified barrister who has practised family law for over 30 years and who gave up practice at the Bar in 2004 to focus solely on mediation.

Elisabeth is acutely aware of the stress and anxiety that people suffer when they go through the legal process of separation and the high costs involved with Court action.

José Cornelis

José is an accredited family mediator and is a member of the Family Mediation Association.

José's legal background and counselling skills make her particularly well suited to family mediation. She is also qualified to conduct direct consultation with children during the mediation process, therefore accommodating all types of family arrangements.

She has excellent connections with solicitors, financial advisors, as well as child and family therapists, who might assist in the mediation process.

José’s method and practical experience enables clients to come to realistic arrangements that are both workable and durable.

Working with Wimbledon Family Mediation can help families find practical solutions to the many and varied problems that they face and allow them to develop better working relationships with those with whom they are in dispute. Elisabeth and José's many years of working with family members in highly distressing situations gives them unique insight that informs the mediations that they facilitate.
