Dolly's Imagination Comes to Wigan

We hear that kids under five in the Bryn and Ince areas of Wigan will take part in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, which is a book gifting scheme.

Interested parents should sign their children up to the scheme at the local Sure Start Centre, after which they will receive one book a month until the age of five. The first book every child will be given is Beatrix Potter's Tales of Peter Rabbit.

Local sponsors from the Wigan area will pay for children in their community to receive the free books. Sounds like a great idea for kids who grow up in households that do not have a tradition of reading in the family. Well done Dolly.

The famously busty singer first launched the scheme in Tennessee in 1996 and it came to the UK in 2007.
