A concert featuring Boscombe Salvation Army Band took place at St Paul’s Church, Weymouth raising funds for two local charities - West Dorset Breast Cancer Care Support Group and Prostate Cancer Network Dorset Branch.

The evening consisted of an exciting variation of music and soloists from the band, and was up to their usual top standard under the leadership of Dr Howard J Evans who did a good job of encouraging the audience to ‘support’ the charities!

There were books on sale, including one written by Margaret Sherratt of Cotton & Son, called ‘One Day At A Time’ of her experiences when she was going through her treatment for breast cancer, and the other written by Peter Cotton  (who died of prostate cancer) called ‘Mind The Handles’. This book holds anecdotes of a funeral director. Both of these books are still on sale from Cotton & Son Funeral Directors with the proceeds going to the two charities involved.

The Church was packed to the rafters and the evening raised £1060.00, from ticket sales and donations on the night, which meant that the charities ‘West Dorset Breast Cancer Care Support Group’ and ‘Prostate Cancer Network Dorset Branch’ received £530.00 each.
