Over the next few months morForm Interior Design will be sharing some top trade secrets to help you brightening up your home without spending a fortune. This month advice comes from Catherine White, a head designer at the Poundbury based Interior Design company.

Summer is knocking on our doors and we are looking to brighten up our interiors. This month why not create a feature wall and bring the outside in using some botanically inspired wallpaper. In our experience, a striking wall turns an ordinary room into an exceptional one. To begin with you need to decide which will be your feature wall - simply ask yourself 'what is the wall that my eye is drawn to first when I walk into the room?'. In a bedroom, the obvious choice is the wall that the bed is against. If the room has a fireplace that wall would normally be a good option too.

All you need to do is choose your favourite stylish design. If you're working to a tight budget you may like to opt for Sanderson's Cowparsley, Options 10 Collection at £31 per roll or if you want to splash out how about Designers Guild, Santuzza in Moss, Arabella Collection at £95 per roll.

So if you're looking to make an impact on a room, a floral print on a wallpaper is a simple way to do so. Remember florals are no longer just for traditional, feminine rooms - large, contemporary prints look fabulous in every room of the home.

Next month we will look at the way window dressings have changed and give ideas of what might look good in your home.
