Former employees of the Ministry of Defence's Underwater Weapons Research Establishment at Southwell are being invited to attend a reunion evening on Wednesday 20th May. The old A.R.E. building is now home to Southwell Business Park and The Portland Spa Hotel and Conference Centre and the site has been renamed "Southwell Park". The event will be held in The Portland Spa Hotel's Orchid Restaurant and includes dinner and a welcome drink. Guests will be able to join a tour of the site to revisit their former places of work and discover the changes that have been made to the building in recent years. These include the modern facilities of The Portland Spa and the many independent businesses based at Southwell Park. The organisers hope that more reunion evenings can be held in the future and hope to contact as many former employees as possible. The Portland Spa's Events Executive Julie Storey explains, "We have had many requests in the past to organise some sort of reunion event for the people formerly employed here and we really hope that this will be the first event of many. Due to the high level of security the MOD operated, this will be the first opportunity many of those former employees have had to show their families where they once worked."

Tickets to the reunion cost £12.00 and the evening begins at 6.30pm. For further information or to book your ticket call 01305 826000 or visit www.theportlandspa.com
