Dorset Safety Services Ltd was established in 1999, by Mike Parker Dip SM, MSc SM, MIIRSM, MIOSH, with the objective to provide the highest level of professional service, serving a wide variety of clients and client requirements. Mike started the business whilst he was working for a large global company as he realised that small to medium sized companies found it very difficult and expensive to appoint their own Health and Safety Personnel, with Health and Safety often being forgotten.

Mike along with his son Craig, are the principal Health and Safety Specialists within the Dorset Safety Services team, they have been involved in Safety Management for many years and have a wide range of experience in different working environments. Craig first found working with his father a challenge, particularly when they instructed a course together and his father insisted on calling him 'Craigy Baby' in front of the delegates! However, ten years on and they are a really strong team combining both their experiences and vast knowledge along with their sense of humour.

If a business doesn't comply with Health and Safety legislation not only is there the possibility of accidents and injuries to employees, visitors or the public but there are also severe penalties, possibly including criminal legal action. Craig commented, "Health and Safety law is ever changing and we have found that companies struggle to keep up their obligations. A recent example was when a small company in Devon asked if we could assist them. They were experiencing problems with their insurance company because they had no Health and Safety Policy or risk assessments in place. Dorset Safety Services assisted the company to achieve compliance and less than two weeks later the company received an unexpected visit from a Health and Safety Executive Inspector, who was satisfied with the progress they were making in respect to compliance with Health and Safety Legislation. At Dorset Safety Services we offer a service which involves a Specialist visiting the company anything from half a day per month up to a full time service to assist in all Health and Safety issues. We understand the credit crunch is affecting most companies so we offer this service without any contract."
